CRW_1896Next in the backwards march through all my old photos is a huge set of photos of our trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida.  This was my first big trip with my digital rebel, so I was a little trigger happy.  Check out the photoset.

Since I moved to a hosting company, I took down my old photo gallery to reduce bandwidth and disk space. This is significant, because one of the most frequent search hits I get is for pictures of Busch Gardens. Now they can actually see them again.

I was just gonna ask what motivated you to use flickr... thanks for answering my question in advance of me asking it... here's another question I have about flickr (as I can see the advantage to reducing bandwidth (with a kid on the way, one of my concerns is outgrowing my limits... in the future, not now, of course))

How much storage does flickr give you? Like, as in total?

Flickr's limits are based on a monthly bandwidth rather than storage space. The free account gives you 10MB per month and there are a few other limitations. The pro account (~$50 a month) gives you 1GB upload per month, with no other limits. I'm uploading full resolution images (3072 x 2048). I've got over 1200 of them uploaded now. They've got full support for RSS and ATOM feeds for just about anything on the site. They have a very simple and effective security model for sharing some photos with friends and/or family only. They have features planned for ordering prints of pictures. In addition, they support a beautiful web-based API for integrating with other software (like my picture bar, and other nifty things I have talked about and have planned). I really can't say enough about how cool it is. I'd recommend visiting their site and checking it out.

Wow, I just realized a huge mistake in my last comment. That's ~$50 a year, not per month. That would be ridiculous.

I checked out their site, but they give no specific details such as you mentioned above which is why I asked...

Sounds like a good deal for when we get close to out-growing or updating gallery! I'm kinda waiting for gallery 2.0 to get out of the beta phase before I make my move. Plus, kinda waiting on the digital rebel to get off of backorder status and make it to my waiting hands.

Thanks for the info.

You're right, $50/mo would be outrageous!
